You Ain't Never Had A Friend Like Me... (Aladdin)

(This post is going to consist of things I've done over the last few days)

August 9, 2014
I chose that title for this blog post for two reasons: 1 is in remembrance of Robin Williams, who passed away today.

"You're free now, Genie."

And 2 is because my roommates and I spent some time together in a couple of the parks the other day and had an awesome time. It's about time you all met my roommates! Here's a picture of all of us:

From left to right:
Jessica - Lifeguard at Blizzard Beach
Jeannette - Kali River Rapids attendant at Animal Kingdom
Shirley - Custodial at Downtown Disney
Justine (whom I share a room with) - Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at New Fantasyland, Magic Kingdom
ME! - Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary Resort
Ashley - Parking at Epcot

We went to Animal Kingdom (as you can see), but we only had 45 minutes until it closed. So we walked super fast to Expedition Everest and made it onto the ride within 10 minutes! That'll never happen ever again!

Here is the result of our awesome ride:

I know what you're thinking. No, Ashley didn't fall out. She isn't a big fan of roller coasters, so she sat this one out.

We also were able to ride the Dinosaur ride...I'm not a fan of that one, but I mustered up the courage and rode it. Here's the result of our ride (prepare to laugh at my face):

Great, huh?

After we left Animal Kingdom, we went back to Magic Kingdom to ride some rides and watch Wishes (the fireworks show) again. I took some videos of Wishes this time, but my blog doesn't like having videos on it for some reason, so watch for a YouTube channel where I will upload all of my videos for your viewing pleasure!

This was my first day of official work where I actually clocked in using my ID and got PAID! The day wasn't off to a very good start. I had to wake up at 5am to shower and catch the bus by 6:27am, and once we were on the bus and halfway to Disney University, the bus broke down. Then, the back-up bus starting breaking down once we got back on our way to D.U., but the bus driver kept on truckin' and got us to our destination.

Another unfortunate part about today was that the building we were having our training class in decided that it wanted to be warm, not cool, so we were all burning up and sweating the entire day. The good parts about that though is that we were allowed to stray from the "Disney Look" (business attire, sleeves must be 3 inches, all tattoos covered, etc.) in order to help keep us cool. They provided us with ice water, and at the end of class, they gave us all these GINORMOUS strawberry fruit Popsicles to enjoy for enduring the miserable temperatures:

I also was very fortunate in that I was finished with class at 11:30am. Other people had to go until 2pm or even later! So that was a positive about this crazy day.

During a break from my training, I went to the restroom and passed this picture:

I glanced at it and SWORE I was looking at a picture of my mom from the 80's! Cra-zyyyy!!!!!

August 11, 2014:
Today, instead of going to Disney University, they switched our class to my apartment complex! Yay!

Our class was all about learning about every Food and Beverage role there is!

There are hosts/hostesses, servers, food prep, culinary, stewards/stewardesses (fancy word for dishwashers), and anything else you can think of in a restaurant.

There are many different roles that people can be, but if you're Quick Service like me, you're ALLLLL of those roles. Which means I could be preparing foods, cleaning up around the restaurant, working the cash register, possibly delivering food to guests, cleaning dishes, stocking everything from drinks to condiments to Grab-n-Go foods, etc. WHEW! Let's hope I don't go crazy with all of this responsibility!

After training ended at 11:30am, I came back to my apartment and relaxed for a while. None of my roommates were home, so I decided to hit the Boardwalk Resort for a little window shopping.

I didn't find much, but everything is so expensive, even with my Cast Member discount. I remembered hearing about a store called "Company D", which is a store specifically for Cast Members only. I decided to head over to that store at Disney University, but it was closed. Boo!

I'm sorry if this post is a little scattered and crazy, but not much else has been going on the last couple of days. I'm hoping to have some more interesting times the next couple of days since I will be starting actual training at my job location!!!!! Stay tuned!

PS - I wanted to give a shout out to my Papaw Ellis! Keep reading and enjoying all the posts!! :) Miss you and Memaw!
