So Prepare For a Chance of a Lifetime... (The Lion King)

This was on a piece of fabric along the walkway where I had to wait in line forever. I love it!

OK, so as many of you already know from Facebook, today was my check-in day for the Disney College Program (let's shorten that to DCP...much easier to type). For the most part, everything went very smoothly.

Today I found out:

  • Which apartment complex my roommates and I would be living in
  • Where I would be working
  • When I would be having casting, a housing meeting, and Traditions
So.....after waiting months and months to find out all of this information....here it is!
  • Apartment Complex: Vista Way (this wasn't our first, second, or even our third choice, but I am trying to see the silver lining in everything today, so hopefully this is a good place for us to be).
  • Apartment Location: Our apartment is number 2911. That's located in building #29 and on the 3rd floor. Looks like I'll be getting good workouts for the next 5 months!
  • Where I'll Be Working: Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary Resort. It is right beside Magic Kingdom (so close that I could walk outside and see the castle or watch fireworks at night!), and that also means I'll be working INSIDE in the A/C!!! Here's what Disney's website says about it:
  • Meetings: Some people had casting right after the checked in. I don't have casting until around noon-ish tomorrow (Tuesday). I also have my housing meeting tomorrow at 4pm. Traditions will be on Friday (boooo).
So now that all of the fun, interesting things are out of the way, here's a little rundown of how my day went!

6:30am:
Wake up, go eat breakfast (didn't have time for a Mickey waffle this morning since you have to make them yourself...)
Come back to the room, shower, and get ready.
Here's the shirt I wore:

Also try to cover up my Minnie tattoo...what do ya think?

8:00am:
Get to Vista Way only to be turned away and told to come back at 8:50am (my check-in time was from 9am-11am).
By now, the humidity has hit my hair with full force...I wasn't too happy about it (it was stick straight when we left the hotel...).

8:50am:
Time to get back in line!

9:00am:
Here's what the line looked like once Chris dropped me off before going to find a parking spot:

9:00am-11:00am:
Lots of standing in line waiting for my turn at different places. I got a sticker name tag and they handed out everyone's program books.

The first stop I made in the line of never-ending waiting was to get my sticker that had all sorts of information on it (such as where I'd be working).
The next place I go is to find out where I'd be living. Since a couple of my roommates had already checked in, I knew prior to this stop where I would be living.
The next stop was to have my picture taken for my housing ID. Unfortunately, someone pointed out that I may need to have my roots touched up a little bit before I start work (awesome...not), so I had to pull my hair back for my picture (which also isn't a bad thing since the humidity had practically given me an afro by now).
Here's my ID:

This allows me to get onto the property where my apartment is.

Next stop was to pick up my apartment key and my ID after it had printed.
After that, I went to pick up papers, sign some papers, and listened to a bunch of things that are important for me to know. They gave us "swag bags" with a small thing of Tide detergent and a small box of Snuggle dryer sheets. They also provided us with a transportation schedule and some snacks (a banana, an orange, and some granola).

11:30am:
TIME TO MOVE INTO MY NEW APARTMENT!!!!
I will post a video later with a walk-through of the entire apartment, but here is my side of the bedroom both before and after I was all unpacked and situated:

FYI: He CHOSE to vacuum the floor on his own...I didn't ask him to haha he's just super sweet like that!

Sometime after unloading my car but before unpacking everything:
Chris and I hit up Subway for lunch. I was STARVING!!! After we ate, we headed back to the apartment complex and unpacked everything, made my bed, hung up my clothes, etc. Really the only thing left to do is go grocery shopping!

That's about it for today. I've finally met all of my roommates (in person), and I already feel like we're going to get along really well! I can't wait to see what the rest of the program holds for all of us!
