There's More To Be Seen, Than Can Ever Be Seen...More To Do Than Can Ever Be Done... (The Lion King)

On one of my days off last week, I decided to head to a couple parks on my own. I know you might be thinking that I'm crazy, but I actually enjoyed myself! I started out at Animal Kingdom. I got there around 2:30pm and headed straight for Kilimanjaro Safaris.

Awkward selfie on the safari truck!

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Kilimanjaro Safaris, I'll explain.

It's an awesome "2-week" safari through the different lands of Africa. You see many different animals along your journey, including giraffes, elephants, hippos, and rhinos! I've heard that it's best to go on that ride early in the morning because that is when the animals are most active, but I was very fortunate to see so many animals on my ride through Africa!

I saw:

Pelicans and Vultures
A hippo among the vultures
The backside of another hippo!
Some Nile Alligators...and no, I don't remember if there was anything there to protect those people from falling into the alligators' lair haha
Nile Gator
A GIRAFFE!!
Some of these....
A termite hill.
Fun Fact: these termite hills are hard as concrete. Elephants often use them as scratching posts!
ANOTHER GIRAFFE!!
AND ANOTHER!!!
"Oh just chewin' on some leaves!"
One of those...
ELEPHANT!!!
MORE!!
AHHH EXCITEMENT!
Flamingos
EVEN MORE ELEPHANTS!!! There were around 8 total!
White rhinos
Two more that were RIGHT BESIDE OUR VEHICLE!
Zebras!!
Also some of these...
Oh and I found Pumba!!!!

I also went over to Asia and saw/climbed Mount Everest!

Selfie!
This ride is called "Expedition: Everest." It has a longer name but I am not sure of it right now.

When you ride this ride, you go up the mountainside, and come to a stop because the Yeti has torn apart the tracks. So what do you do? Go backwards of course! And then right before you plummet to the Earth, as seen in the second picture of the mountain, you are turned around again and all is well!

Thankfully I have escaped the Yeti's clutches every single time I have ridden it, but he has come disastrously close to nabbing me out of the train!

After Animal Kingdom, I headed to Magic Kingdom.

I took the bus because I had actually parked my car at my work (which is neighbors with Magic Kingdom) and rode the bus to Animal Kingdom. This way I would be doing less driving and more sightseeing/exploring!

When I got to Magic Kingdom, I just had to take (you guessed it)...

A SELFIE!!!!

PLEASE disregard my manic-looking hair! This Florida humidity is not something you want to mess with on a daily basis....

I also wanted to get a picture of Walt's brother's statue.

It sits at the beginning of Main Street, U.S.A. and features Roy Disney and Minnie Mouse!

Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse are closer to the castle at the end of Main Street, U.S.A.

I didn't get to do much at Magic Kingdom this day because it was about to rain...

So what better way to beat the storm than to ride Pirates of the Caribbean?!

I can finally mark that one off my bucket list! Woohoo!

Some other things that have happened since my last blog post:

Chris is coming to visit September 11-14, and we are staying at Disney's Port Orleans: French Quarter resort.

Once someone makes a reservation at a Disney resort, they're prompted to personalize their Magic Bands.

For those who don't know what Magic Bands are: they are wonderful bracelet-type bands that have a Mickey head engraved into them. They allow guests to do a multitude of things, such as link their credit card to them for easy paying, link dining reservations to them, link FastPasses to them for rides and attractions, gain access to your resort room with them, link your park ticket to them..OK, you get the picture. They're pretty amazing.

My point is that CHRIS AND I NOW HAVE MAGIC BANDS!!

Aren't they adorable???

I'm so excited to finally get to use them (although it will mainly only be for getting into our room haha)!!!

A couple other things to share:

Saw fireworks on my way home from work one day. They were for the Villains Unleashed party at Hollywood Studios.

I also received this postcard. I thought it was just this picture, but I turned it over and it was actually a note from Chris!!! I texted him asking when he had written it, and he said that they had families writing them out while their kids (in my case, girlfriend) was checking into the program on the day that I got here. He never mentioned it before, so it was definitely a wonderful surprise...and I definitely cried! haha

I have found that I am a master of Food Tetris. Living with four other girls and only having one fridge isn't all it's cracked up to be (if it's even cracked up to be anything!).

I plan to blog again tomorrow night or on Tuesday (my first day off in what feels like FOREVER!), so keep an eye out!!
