Riding the Tram from the parking lot to the front entrance!
My sad attempt at getting ANIMAL KINGDOM in the background of our picture. Don't judge! The sun was very bright in our eyes hahaha
At least I was able to get the Tree of Life in the background (along with all the construction taking place for Avatar!)
As soon as we made it to Animal Kingdom, we rode Kilimanjaro Safaris. As many of you already know, I rode this ride a few weeks back on my own and saw some pretty amazing animals. This time around wasn't any different.
We saw:
A Black Rhino
Some of these things that remind me of deer. They came very close to our vehicle.
Another Black Rhino!
HIPPOS!!!
More Hippos using each other as pillows!
Nile Crocodiles!
GIRAFFE!!!
GIRAFFE AGAIN!!!
MORE GIRAFFES!!!!
ELEPHANT!!!!
Again!!!
They were playing with each other. It was adorable!
So cute!!
White Rhino.
ZEBRAS!!!
Some Storks
Between those two rocks near the center of the picture, there's a lioness lying down taking a little snooze!
After we finished our safari, it was time to grab a bite to eat. We ended up going to get some pizza. It was REALLY good!!!
With so much construction going on, there's not much to do/see at Animal Kingdom right now. Chris wanted to see the "show in the tree" aka "It's Tough To Be A Bug," but since you can't get anywhere near the tree right now, we didn't get to see it.
We headed over to Asia to ride Expedition: Everest. There was a 20-minute wait, and it was AWESOME!!!
WE SAW DUG FROM THE MOVIE UP on our way over to Asia!!!! I need to MEET HIM!!
You can barely tell, but we also saw Baloo and King Louie from the Jungle Book!!
I HAD to stop and take pictures/videos of the monkeys for my stepdad. He LOVES watching them. They were very active today. The last couple time I've been there, they haven't even been outside.
The next two pictures are of me and Chris on the Expedition: Everest ride. It was so much fun, as you can tel by our faces!! We got the very last row of seats on this train, so we probably had the best ride out of everyone on our train!
Chris's face is priceless.
Getting ready to ride Primeval Whirl. Chris doesn't care much for spinning around and around quickly, but this ride was a must do. Thankfully, there were no Code V's to tend to after we got off the ride!
Time to head to EPCOT! Chris was so excited to see the different countries that were seen in the World Showcase!
Something else he was VERY excited about was to go see Crush at the Finding Nemo area.
"Mine!" "Mine!" "Mine!"
Eels!!!
Some sharks
Chit chatting with Crush the turtle. He actually interacts with the audience, asks them questions, answers there questions, etc. Probably one of the funniest things I've experienced here in EPCOT.
TIME TO RIDE MISSION SPACE!!!!! This allows you to go on a mission to Mars just like a NASA Astronaut. It's a lot of fun!
Mine and Chris's shirts for the day. Only a couple people noticed our shirts hahaha
TEST TRACK!!! I haven't ridden this ride since they revamped it.
It used to be that you got in a car and tested the way it reacted in different situations. You tested the brakes, the speed, the steering, etc. Now you're able to design your own car. It rates your speed, efficiency, power, and responsiveness. I always wondered how they would allow you to test your specific vehicle considering in our car alone, there were at least 3-4 different made-up cars. Let's go through the queue and I'll explain once we get to that point!!
Here is where they put you into rows so you can create your own vehicle.
Mine and Chris's vehicle we designed.
Ready to test out our car!
Now we are ready to get in the car and see how our car stacks up against the competition. That's right. Instead of testing out your own car you designed, you actually compete with others in your car. You load your design onto your magic band, scan your band before you get into the car, and then as you test the car you're riding in, it will rank how well your car would have done had you actually used your car for the testing.
Chris looking like he's too cool for school. Me asking him if he's ready to go real fast!!!
After the ride, Chevrolet has a few cars that you can check out. Of course, Chris nearly died when he saw this Corvette. See for yourself in the next picture.
Smiling like a kid in a candy store! haha
Time to go check out the World Showcase!!!
We saw Duffy the Bear near the front of the World Showcase. If you know this bear and his story, you're my new best friend. If you don't, I'll tell you (and then we can be best friends!).
Duffy is Mickey Mouse's teddy bear. He takes him on vacations with him. Minnie Mouse created Duffy for Mickey when he was packing for a long voyage at sea.
Duffy will be leaving EPCOT soon for some unknown reason (to me), which makes me sad!
For lunch, Chris and I ate in Germany. He had a bratwurst and I had macaroni and cheese. The texture as a little too creamy for me, but it was yummy! We also shared an apple strudel that could have been warmed up, but it was good nonetheless.
Mac n Cheese
We walked through all of the World Showcase (not getting many pictures), and made it back towards the front of EPCOT to head towards The Land.
We rode Living With The Land, a ride to show how Disney grows some of their own foods, including fruits, vegetables, and even fish! The beginning of the ride shows how foods are produced in different parts of the world.
BUFFALO!!
We Are....
There's a watermelon in the middle of all the other watermelons that has been placed in a Mickey-shaped container so it can turn into a Mickey Mouse Watermelon, and the red ticket below it says "Earning My Ears!" Love IT!!!!
Beautiful sunset!!!
We were literally the only people on the bus on the way back to Animal Kingdom to get our car out of the parking lot.
We got our car and headed back to our resort to check out the pool. We were originally supposed to have a Pool View from our room, but apparently they "upgraded" us to a River View. Not sure if it was an upgrade or not because we heard the boats pass by every 15 minutes taking people to and from Downtown Disney. They would blow a horn when they rounded the corner so as to not run in to any other boats. Quite annoying at times, especially at night. They were supposed to stop running around 11pm, but I definitely heard them passed 11pm. Oh well, rant over!
Time to check out the pool!
We saw a bunny rabbit!!!!!
Typical selfie
Mardi Gras-themed pool
I wanted to go down the serpent slide, but there were a lot of kids going down it. I decided to just wait until another time.
The pool was a little chilly, so we decided to hop out and go around the resort. We went into the gift shop. It was your typical Disney gift shop. We went over to the Quick Service food area and I realized that we were in a resort that offered Beignets!!!!!!!!! I had to try them!
They weren't as amazing as I hoped they would be, but they were still pretty good. Basically just a piece of slightly fried dough with a pound of powdered sugar on top haha they were a nice treat at the end of the day though!
Inside the restaurant. Mardi Gras EVERYWHERE!
Prepare for another blog post soon about mine and Chris's last day together here at Disney!
I also have another blog post coming about the Food and Wine Festival! So STAY TUNED!!!
