And usually anytime I move away from home, I end up getting hurt.
Moving to Florida was no exception...
Monday night at work, I was rounding a corner was a bunch of plastic cupcake containers in my arms. The corner I coming around is right beside the grill. I was also wearing non-slip shoes that were provided to me by Disney World, and yet...I found a way to slip in them and fall right onto my left side.
I sprained my wrist pretty badly, I bruised my elbow and knee, and when I fell, my right foot/ankle became wedged beneath the grill, so I can't point my toes without there being pain. I have a bruise on my ankle as well.
Of course, when it happened (which seems like it took half of a millisecond for me to go from standing upright to being parallel with the floor), my adrenaline was going because we had about 20 orders backed up and trying to get all of that food out made me forget that I had probably really hurt myself. I jokingly said to my manager (who was helping up tray up food), "So much for slip-resistant shoes!", but nothing else was said about it. I wasn't even sure that he had heard me.
By the end of the night (about midnight - 5 hours after my fall), my wrist was really bothering me. I had been traying up food and carrying heavy things with it, and once we stopped the rushing around and just starting cleaning up to close down the restaurant, I could now feel the pain coming.
I still didn't say anything to my managers. I figured taking ibuprofen and icing it once I got home would suffice. It wasn't swollen or anything, so I wasn't too concerned. I just wanted the pain to go away.
The next morning I wake up around 9am, and my wrist is swollen. Like I said, it was swollen the night before while I was icing it, so this concerned me a little bit. I decided to have it checked out. I went to my work to report it so they would know that I was going to get it checked out. They took down everything that happened and sent me to see the doctor at health services behind EPCOT.
It took me FORTY MINUTES to find this place. I have no sense of direction, so just telling me "turn left, turn right, follow this road" is useless....I nearly ALWAYS get lost or take forever finding it haha I could definitely find it now though!
Once I finally made it, I walked in and explained the situation.
The receptionist told me to wait in the waiting area until a nurse called my name to go back. What was awesome about this waiting room was that the tv was set on a channel that played continuous Disney movies! First, I watched Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
I watched the beginning and made it all the way to the dwarfs discovering Snow White in their beds before my name was called to go back.
The LPN that took my vitals and helped me fill out paperwork told me that she would schedule me an appointment for later that same day with the doctor. Thankfully it wasn't scheduled too late because I still had to go to work at 4!
I had an hour before I needed to be back for my second appointment, so I went home and picked up my work costume and made my lunch for when I went on my work break. Then I made the trip back to health services.
When I walked in this time, 101 Dalmatians was playing!
It was at the part where all the puppies are trying to escape behind Horace's and Jasper's backs!
I was called back pretty quickly after arriving, so I didn't get to watch much of the movie (boo!).
The doctor ordered for me to have X-Rays taken of my wrist. Thankfully nothing was broken, just badly sprained. He gave me a brace and told me to wear it for 10 days.
Also, I was told that while at work, I am not allowed to work with any foods or touch anything clean utensils or napkins..... that's basically my entire job!
The only thing I can do is be cashier, the one thing about my job that I never want to do!!
Thankfully I only had to be a cashier yesterday for about 6 hours instead of 8-10!
Here's a few other pictures of my battle wounds!
Comparing my elbow bruise:

Pictures don't do the swelling justice, but this is to compare my left (injured) wrist to my right (uninjured) wrist below
I know it looks like I have cankles, but that's just the camera angle, I swear! haha but there's the bruise on my ankle!
See? No cankles!
I had zero bruising on my knee on Tuesday, but now (Wednesday) they have shown up a lot more!
Again, pictures don't do them justice!
