Side note: All of this planning had been taking place since approximately July 4th....My family is too good at keeping secrets haha
To set the scene for you, this is how it all went down:
A couple weeks ago, I was asked by my sister-in-law, Sabrina, if I could babysit at her church while she has a Just Jewelry Party (she's a consultant). The only other thing I had planned for Saturday was to babysit for another family later that evening, so I said SURE!
Saturday rolls around, and my mom tells me that her and my step-dad are going to drop some food off at Sabrina's church for the party and then run some errands. At this point, I am not even close to being suspicious of anything. The only thing I thought was out of place was that my parents wanted to take my step-dad's mom to Red Lobster to celebrate her birthday with desserts (she has severe dementia and rarely ever leaves the house, but I STILL had no clue about the surprise coming my way).
I was asked to be at the church to "babysit" at 2:15. My mom swears she told me to shower before going to the church so I would be "ready to take Memaw to Red Lobster right after," but I don't remember that at all haha. So 2:00 rolls around, I throw on some shorts and a tshirt, and head out the door with my hair in a sloppy bun on top of my head. Hey, if I'm going to be babysitting a bunch of little ones, why would I want to dress up just to be slobbered on? I was just thinking ahead, ya know???
Anywho, I get to the church and see my parents' car and my step-sister's car. I paid zero attention to any other cars....that should have been a dead giveaway, but no. I still had NO CLUE what was about to happen. I walk into the church and my S-I-L is there in the hallway to meet me with my niece. She says that my nephew, Tristan, is in the Fellowship Hall and she needed to grab him before we went to the nursery. I follow behind her and through one of the door windows, I can see my grandma's face. My first thought was, "Oh! My mom got my grandma to come to Sabrina's jewelry party!"...............then I walked through the doors to the Fellowship Hall...........
SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, that second picture is of me crying...which eventually turned into everyone else crying haha
I didn't even notice that my boyfriend, who was standing against the wall beside the door, had driven the 1.5 hours to join in on the surprise (he had known all about the party for quite some time and kept it a secret)!
Needless to say, my mom telling me to shower was supposed to be for my own benefit so I would look nice for any pictures that were going to be taken haha but honestly, I dress in t-shirts and shorts 9 times out of 10, so everyone wasn't surprised that I didn't dress up.
Below are the adorable pictures of all the food names given for each dish at the party and some of the decorations (no one really needed to buy any stuffed animals since my niece and nephews have TONS of Disney ones)! I loved everything about this day!
I will miss my family so much while I am working in Disney, BUT I will be back in January, and hopefully some of them can come visit while I'm away!
On another note, I received the 1st DORMS e-mail this morning!!! The DORMS e-mails will allow my potential roommates and I to let Disney know in which apartment complex we prefer to live. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Countdown:
10 days until we hit the road!
13 days until I check in!!!
